Fatah Opens National Guarantee.. The Eighth Conference Marks a New Phase

The Palestinian National Liberation Movement “Fatah” is entering a countdown phase for the convening of its Eighth General Conference on May 14th, in a significant political and organizational moment, where major national challenges intersect with the urgent need to renew the internal structure of the movement and enhance its leadership role in the Palestinian national project.

Organizational Readiness Reflecting the Movement's Vitality

The ongoing preparations for the conference come amid high organizational and logistical readiness, following a series of intensive meetings and discussions involving various leadership and organizational frameworks. The membership committee is nearing the completion of its work after finalizing the number of conference members and its components, ensuring broad representation of the movement's members at home and in the diaspora, reaffirming the organizational unity despite geographic and circumstantial differences.

Preparations continue in designated halls to ensure effective participation, whether through direct attendance or various virtual connection methods.

In this context, this year’s conference has additional significance, as it will take place in multiple halls both inside and outside the homeland due to the restrictions and measures imposed by the occupation, which hinder a large number of cadres from accessing their homeland. Nevertheless, the movement has succeeded in turning this challenge into an opportunity by involving its cadres from various locations, ensuring participation from Fatah members around the world.

This wide geographical presence of participants not only reflects organizational capability but also demonstrates the depth of the movement's presence, its broad reach, and the strength of its global relationships, which it has woven over decades of struggle and political work.

A Conference Beyond the Electoral Dimension

The Eighth Conference is not limited to being an organizational requirement for electing new leadership; it transcends that to become a critical political juncture for reshaping the movement’s vision and program amid a highly dangerous phase the Palestinian cause is undergoing.

At a time when our people are subjected to genocide in Gaza and continuous escalation in the West Bank, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive review of tools and policies, enhancing the movement’s capability to lead this phase and confront complex challenges, both politically and on the ground.

Fatah: A National Guarantee and Cornerstone of the Liberation Project

Since its inception, Fatah has been a cornerstone of Palestinian national work, a leader of the national liberation project, and the central figure in establishing and leading the Palestine Liberation Organization, as the legitimate and sole representative of our people.

Throughout its journey, the movement has established a clear equation: Fatah’s strength is strength for the entire Palestinian national movement, and its active presence is a guarantee for the continuity of the national project and the protection of the independent Palestinian decision from attempts at dependency or infiltration.

Democracy as an Approach, Not Just a Slogan

The Eighth Conference renews the movement's deep commitment to the democratic approach as a strategic choice rather than a tactical one, where its leadership emerges from the ballot boxes, reflecting respect for organizational will and strengthening the principle of rotation and renewal. In this context, the electoral process within the conference is interconnected with the overall political dimension and represents part of the movement's vision to entrench democracy in the Palestinian political system as a whole.

Internal Discussions and Historic Responsibility

The outcomes of the conference are being widely anticipated amid intensive internal discussions within the movement's frameworks at home and abroad, addressing various organizational and political issues. This dynamism in discussion reflects a high awareness of the historical responsibility resting on the movement at this phase.

Towards Leadership Capable of Facing Challenges

The movement is confidently moving toward holding its conference on the scheduled date, leading to the election of new leadership capable of facing current challenges and responding to our people's aspirations for freedom and independence, while providing greater space and effective participation for women and youth.

Thus, the Eighth Conference is not merely a democratic entitlement; it is a moment of renewal of the covenant with our people and a confirmation that Fatah will remain:
* A leader of the national liberation project
* A protector of the independent Palestinian decision
* An advocate of the democratic approach
* A driving force for the Palestinian national movement
* A protective fence and accumulator of our national achievements

Conclusion
In light of the challenges besieging the Palestinian cause, the Eighth Conference of Fatah occurs as an act of national will, conveying a clear message that this movement, which has always been at the forefront of struggle, is capable of renewing itself, enhancing its role, and continuing to lead its people towards freedom and independence.

It is a conference that encapsulates the past with its sacrifices, addresses the present with its challenges, and establishes the future with unwavering will.
