The Ministry of Education Announces the General Implementation of Open Educational Resources at the Beginning of Next September

SadaNews - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the comprehensive application of Open Educational Resources (OER) for public school students in grades one through four at the start of the upcoming academic year, which begins in early September.

The Ministry added in a statement today, Sunday, that this step comes as a core axis within the components of the ministry's comprehensive plan "Education for Development" and its developmental directions; to enhance a flexible and sustainable educational environment that takes into account individual differences among students.

The statement confirmed that the decision for general implementation was based on scientific and methodological steps; as the experience of implementing this approach was evaluated on a sample of 64 schools last year, in addition to an evaluative research study assessing the outcomes of this implementation in these schools, alongside a summary of a series of consultations and meetings to gather opinions from the educational field and experts.

Based on the results, the ministry has developed a comprehensive plan focused on enabling and qualifying teachers to equip them with skills in lesson design according to rigorously defined national and international benchmarks, and providing support and infrastructure through access to educational platforms and open educational materials, interactive digital enhancers, and other resources that serve this direction.

The Ministry emphasized the integrative roles between student motivation, parental follow-up, teacher design for citizenship and moral-based learning, and support from school management and educational supervision, asserting that research evidence indicates a direct positive impact on learning outcomes and academic achievement; contributing to the promotion of sustainable transformation in the educational learning system, as well as offering alternative educational content to prescribed paper books.
