Changing the Regime: Between the Will of the People and the Will of Washington

The American threat to intervene in Iran in support of the protesters, as claimed, will pull the rug from under the feet of the Iranian people and undermine the popular movement because if the regime falls, the credit will go to Washington and not to the people. In this scenario, the Iranian people will pay the price of their freedom and national independence because Washington will have the upper hand in controlling Iran and its resources.

This reminds us of what happened in Iraq in 2003, where Saddam's regime fell due to direct American military intervention, not by the Iraqi people, resulting in the violation of Iraq's sovereignty and the initial appointment of an American governor, along with American intervention in all aspects of life to this day. The same happened in Libya, where NATO's intervention led to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime, followed by chaos that continues to this day. A similar situation occurred when Syria was violated and the Assad regime fell due to direct American, Turkish, and Israeli support for the terrorist Al-Nusra forces, resulting in Syria being violated by these parties and losing its sovereignty.

If the peoples are the ones who brought down the previous regimes, could they build a better alternative in terms of political and economic systems while preserving the unity of the people and the state?

In the Gaza Strip, a process is underway to overthrow and remove the authority of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the state of Palestine, as well as any Palestinian authority, not by the will of the Palestinian people in the Strip, but by Israeli-American will. Thus, the future of the Strip will be subject to the will of Washington and Tel Aviv, which is the essence and goal of Trump's initiative.
