The Public Prosecution Condemns the Crime of Occupation Against Members and Employees of the Public Prosecution on the Ramallah-Ariha Road

SadaNews - The Public Prosecution condemned the crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces this morning against a number of its members and employees along the road connecting Ramallah and Ariha, which involved direct physical assault, detention, mistreatment, and threats of field execution by pointing weapons at their bodies. This scene reflects a dangerously high level of disregard for the lives and human dignity of Palestinian civilians, within a systematic oppressive behavior faced by our people daily at military checkpoints.

It stated in a released statement, as follows:

The targeting of members and employees of the Public Prosecution while they were on their way to fulfill their official duties at the Ariha Prosecution, and subjecting them to beating, humiliation, and intimidation, constitutes a crime and a gross violation of international humanitarian law and the relevant international treaties protecting civilians and workers in the justice sector. It again reveals the systematic violence exercised by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the absence of any accountability or effective international protection.

The Public Prosecution confirms that what its members were subjected to today cannot be separated from the policy of collective punishment and the daily violations faced by our Palestinian people at military checkpoints, which include humiliation, mistreatment, detention, and physical and psychological assault, within a continuous escalation targeting the Palestinian individual and his basic rights, freedom, and dignity.

The Public Prosecution also affirms its commitment to fulfilling its national and legal message, despite all the practices and violations targeting its members, its cadre, and the justice institutions, and its adherence to the rule of law and the protection of the rights of our Palestinian people.
