Netanyahu to Meet Trump at the White House on Tuesday
SadaNews - The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Friday evening that he will travel to the United States on Monday, where he will meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday.
In a brief statement from his office, it was mentioned that "at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel for a visit to Washington next Monday."
It was added, "During the visit, Netanyahu will meet with President Trump at the White House on Tuesday, and he will also participate in the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham."
Netanyahu's office indicated that journalists would not be permitted to accompany the Prime Minister on board the "Zion Wing" aircraft, and added that their joining for the visit would be available independently.
The scheduled visit for Netanyahu comes a week after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's visit and his meeting with Trump, at a time when there is ongoing escalation between America and Iran, with strikes being exchanged daily since late June.
On Thursday, Trump stated that he is considering launching the widest attack against Iran, noting that Israel's involvement in it could have potential consequences.
He added that Israel "would join within two minutes if asked to do so," but emphasized, "We do not need any party" to launch a new operation against Iran.
Israeli reports indicated on Wednesday that Tel Aviv is seeking to restore direct communication between Netanyahu and the U.S. president at a time when Israel awaits Washington's decision on whether to continue the negotiation track with Iran or move towards a large-scale war, amid Israeli reports of Netanyahu's declining ability to influence decisions in the White House.
One report indicated that the disruption of direct communication between Trump and Netanyahu over the past ten days has put Israel in a state of uncertainty concerning the U.S. administration's intentions toward Iran, amidst ambiguity that has pushed the Israeli army towards costly preparations in anticipation of quick developments.
