Third Assault by Settlers in a Week Temporarily Halts Water Pumping from Ein Samia Wells
SadaNews - This morning, the Ein Samia wells were subjected to a new assault carried out by settlers, involving the sabotage of water lines, which temporarily halted water pumping operations.
The Jerusalem District Water Department confirmed that its teams are monitoring the situation and working to reactivate the wells as quickly as possible, noting that this is the third assault carried out by settlers against the Ein Samia wells in a week, in a continuous escalation targeting the water infrastructure.
The department added that targeting water facilities constitutes a direct assault on essential services and the citizens' right to access water, emphasizing that the Ein Samia wells are the main source of water supply for villages and population centers in the north and east of Ramallah.
The department confirmed that it is conducting intensive communications with international parties to provide the necessary protection for the Ein Samia wells and ensure that such assaults do not recur, as they are a vital facility that secures water for tens of thousands of citizens, stressing the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities in protecting water infrastructure and ensuring the continuity of essential services.
It pointed out that it continues to coordinate with the Water Authority and civil coordination to pressure for an end to these assaults and to enable its technical teams to access the site, repair the damages, and resume pumping as soon as possible, renewing its call for the necessary protection for water facilities and vital infrastructure.
