How to Nurture the "Human" Aspect in Your Child in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

SadaNews - Day by day, the intertwining of technology, specifically artificial intelligence, with its role in our lives is increasing, and some fear that it will impose its dominance significantly over life and determine what remains of human jobs in the future.

According to an opinion article published in the American "Wall Street Journal", the world is experiencing a pivotal economic transformation, moving from a world where productivity was measured by tangible things to a world where productivity is linked to technology.

The article's writer points out that for thousands of years, humanity has not witnessed the disappearance of many jobs, and humans had a close relationship with those jobs, so much so that families bore the names of their professions like "blacksmith". However, this will not continue, and many jobs will change or end, with "emotional intelligence" and "personality" becoming more important than they were in the past, as it will be difficult to "automate" them or subject them to technology.

Mastery or Submission

The writer states that the world will divide into two categories in the future; those who master technological tools, and those who submit to them, adding that parents will have to prepare their children and help them develop essential habits in their personalities to maximize the benefit from technology and not become its prisoners.

The writer clarified that there are four habits that parents should instill in their children, which are:

Reading: Instead of facilitating access for children to electronic devices at a young age before they start school, despite parents knowing the harm it causes to children's brains, parents should instill a love of reading in their children by engaging them in group reading aloud and creating a home library, teaching them that discussing ideas is better than scrolling through social media.

Work: The writer recommends starting to involve children in household chores from an early age, by assigning them simple tasks like putting clothes or dishes in the washer and taking them out, then gradually involving them in tasks like carpentry and repairs as they grow, preparing them for the practical life ahead.

Time away from Technology: The writer states that parents must ensure to allocate family time away from digital devices and technology, focusing on relationships among family members and communication between them.

Serious Travel: The writer emphasizes that life experiences through travel help shape a person's character. He encourages parents to assist their children in serious travel, away from the concept of vacation, to new areas for real-life experiences that help develop their personality through interaction with other people.
