Major General Al-Saqa Confirms Police Readiness to Secure Municipal and Local Authority Elections
SadaNews - Today, Monday, the Director General of Police, Major General Alim Al-Saqa, held an extensive meeting with senior police officers, attended by his deputy, Brigadier Rashid Al-Hamdan, and the assistants to the Director General of Police, his consultants, provincial police directors, and the heads of specialized departments and divisions, to discuss the readiness of the police institution to secure the upcoming elections.
He confirmed the complete readiness of the Palestinian police to secure the local authority and municipal elections, through a well-structured operational plan that ensures the democratic process proceeds transparently and in an orderly manner, enabling citizens to exercise their right to vote freely and safely.
Major General Al-Saqa emphasized the necessity of raising the level of field readiness, enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens, intensifying follow-ups, and continuously improving performance, noting that the police operate under exceptional circumstances, yet have proven their ability to face challenges and bear responsibilities with high efficiency and professionalism.
He praised the outstanding performance of police personnel, pointing to the qualitative leap in police work during the year 2025, which reflected a marked decrease in crime rates due to commitment and diligent follow-up, reaffirming his ongoing instructions for effective field deployment and rapid response to citizens' calls for help, thereby enhancing the sense of security and stability.
Major General Al-Saqa asserted the importance of monitoring and addressing negative phenomena and ensuring the preservation of citizens' rights and dignity, especially during law enforcement, indicating the introduction of modern technologies, including cameras mounted on police uniforms, to regulate performance and ensure the proper application of legal procedures.
He highlighted the successes achieved by the police in dealing with suspicious objects and rocket fragments during periods of tension in the region, appreciating the great efforts made by the explosives engineering department and all police departments, in addition to the significant role of the police in securing religious occasions, including Islamic and Christian holidays, through organizing, securing, and community participation in them.
Major General Al-Saqa stressed the importance of promoting the concept of community policing and expanding partnerships with local community institutions through community councils that include influential and reputable figures, aiming to reduce crime, promote the rule of law, and solidify civil peace.
