Laying the Foundation Stone for the Neighborhood Playground in Jericho with Support from the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality

SadaNews - Jericho and the Jordan Valley Governor Dr. Hussein Hamayel laid the foundation stone today, Monday, for the neighborhood playground project in the Al-Masna neighborhood, with primary support from the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, in partnership with the Jericho Municipality. This initiative aims to provide a safe space for children and foster a supportive community environment for their comprehensive growth.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a wide range of official and community representatives, where the event commenced with the playing of the Palestinian national anthem and the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by several speeches underscoring the importance of the project and its role in serving the residents of the neighborhood, especially children and youth.

In turn, Dr. Hamayel began his speech by thanking "on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas" the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their support, emphasizing that the project strengthens the resilience of the Palestinian people and their image before the world.

He stressed the importance of maintaining civil peace during municipal elections and rejected any attempts to incite discord, confirming that competition should serve the citizens within the framework of national responsibility.

He also affirmed the Palestinian leadership's commitment to an independent national decision despite the challenges, noting that the resilience of the Palestinian people will lead to a near relief and the fulfillment of their aspirations.

The acting head of the Jericho Municipality, Mohammed Al-Walji, confirmed that the project to establish the multipurpose neighborhood playground is a fruit of cooperation and partnership with the Novo Grad Sarajevo Municipality, embodying the depth of human and developmental relations between the two sides. He indicated that the project, which is being built on an area of about 1300 square meters at a cost of approximately $367,000, aims to provide a safe environment to support youth and enhance community life. He clarified the municipality's commitment to developing these partnerships towards sustainable projects while announcing the availability of land allocated for developmental projects and calling on investors and idea holders to collaborate with the municipality through its investment unit.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Jericho Area Commander Colonel Rakan Mut'ab Al-Ataunh, along with representatives from security and civil apparatuses, President of the Chamber of Commerce Taysir Hamida, former Palestinian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Rizq Al-Namoura, President of the Yugoslav Republic Alumni Association Dr. Nader Al-Slaimeh, as well as directors of official and community institutions and representatives of the Fatah Movement.
