Arrests and Raids in the West Bank and Attacks on Citizens Targeting School Students

SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces carried out a large-scale arrest campaign at dawn and on Monday morning in various areas of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, which included raids on Palestinian homes and the destruction of their contents, along with confrontations in some areas and obstacles preventing students from reaching their schools in other areas.

In occupied Jerusalem, occupation forces arrested 10 young men from the town of Al-Issawiya, northeast of the city, following wide raids on the homes of residents and the destruction of the contents of some of them, according to the Jerusalem Governorate, which recorded the names of some of the detainees.

In Nablus, northern West Bank, several young men were arrested during scattered incursions, which included Street 16 and several neighborhoods in the city, where the forces raided homes, searched them, and arrested a number of young men amid the spread of military vehicles that launched from the Deir Sharaf checkpoint.

In Hebron, a young man was arrested after his home was raided and searched, while occupation forces stormed a house in Massafer Yatta, conducting inspections and field interrogations, which included acts of vandalism against property.

In Tubas, a young man was arrested after his home was raided in the town of Tamoun, which witnessed an extensive incursion that lasted for hours and a military presence in several neighborhoods. Qalqilya also saw the arrest of a released prisoner along with two family members after a raid on his home.

In the al-Arroub camp north of Hebron, an injured child was arrested during the incursion into the camp, while occupation forces set up military checkpoints at the entrances and surrounding areas of Hebron, closing main and secondary roads with iron gates and earth mounds.

In Ramallah and Al-Bireh, four citizens, including a child, were arrested during raids on the villages of Yabrud and Beit Orah At-Tahta, which included raids and searches of homes.

The cities and towns of the West Bank are witnessing a continuous escalation in incursions and arrests, accompanied by the vandalism of homes and restrictions on the movement of Palestinians.

Injuries from Tear Gas in Umm al-Khair and Settlers Close School Road in Massafer Yatta

Several Palestinian students and citizens were injured on Monday morning while attempting to reach the Khirbat Umm al-Khair school in the Massafer Yatta area south of Hebron after they were suffocated due to tear gas canisters fired by the occupation army.

Local residents reported that settlers closed the road leading to the school and prevented students from reaching it, under the protection of occupation forces, resulting in rising tensions in the area and hindering students from getting to their classrooms.

This comes amid the return to in-person education in Palestinian schools after a suspension lasting more than a month, according to the Ministry of Education, amidst ongoing field tensions in the West Bank.

Human rights reports indicate a noticeable increase in the assaults by the occupation and settlers in recent times, resulting in dozens of martyrs and hundreds of injuries, especially in areas of southern West Bank, including Massafer Yatta.
