Accusation of a Young Man from Rahat for Killing Ahmad Abu Jaber While Traveling with His Family

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation public prosecutor submitted an indictment to the Central Court in Be'er Sheva today, Thursday, against the young man Zahran Bahiri (26 years old) from the city of Rahat in the Negev region, southern Israel, accusing him of "murder under aggravating circumstances, following a shooting incident during a prolonged dispute between his family and that of the victim, the late Ahmad Abu Jaber."

According to the indictment, "the deceased and his family, his mother and his minor children, were preparing for breakfast after shopping when Bahiri stopped his vehicle at an intersection near the victim's home, got out, and opened fire on the vehicle carrying the family from a close distance."

The prosecutor added in the indictment that "the deceased tried to take cover, but the accused continued shooting, which resulted in him sustaining critical injuries that ultimately led to his death. One of the minors also sustained serious injuries to her face while trying to protect her siblings."

It was noted that "there is an ongoing dispute between the Bahiri and Abu Jaber families, which had previously resulted in injuries to others, prompting the deceased to move from his neighborhood to another location within the city."

The accused is charged with "murder under aggravating circumstances, causing serious injury to a minor, firing in a residential area endangering residents' lives, and possession of a weapon." The prosecutor also submitted a request to extend his detention until the judicial proceedings are completed.
