SadaNews Center Concludes Ramadan Initiative to Support Displaced and Needy Families in Palestine
SadaNews - The SadaNews Center for Citizen Rights and Community Development has concluded its "Ramadan" initiative, funded by Lazismu Foundation and in cooperation with the Muhammadiyah Association in Indonesia, to support displaced and needy families in various Palestinian regions by distributing food parcels and iftar meals during the month of Ramadan.
Wide Targeting Including the West Bank and Gaza Strip
The initiative covered the camps of Tulkarem, Jenin, and the Ein camp east of Nablus, in addition to the Mawasi area in the Gaza Strip, as well as cancer patients from Gaza located in the town of Asira al-Shamaliya. More than 850 displaced and needy families benefited from this campaign amidst difficult living conditions.
The Need to Strengthen Resilience and Expand Relief Support
The SadaNews Center emphasized that these initiatives come within the framework of strengthening the resilience of citizens and providing the minimum of their basic needs, stressing the importance of continuing them amidst the economic and humanitarian challenges faced by the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
It clarified that these humanitarian efforts, despite their limitations, represent a lifeline for many families, calling for intensified relief support to confront the growing challenges.
In the Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, food parcels were distributed to families living in harsh conditions and relying almost entirely on relief assistance, especially since displaced families in northern West Bank have been suffering since their displacement began in 2024 from the absence of income sources and a lack of job opportunities.
Testimonials from the Field Confirm the Extent of Need
For his part, Mohammad al-Khatib, a member of the emergency committee in Tulkarem camp, stated that about 3,200 families have been displaced from the camp for more than 14 months, pointing to ongoing efforts to enhance their resilience despite limited support, amid the difficult economic situation that all Palestinians are experiencing.
In the same context, assistance was distributed to cancer patients coming from Gaza and stuck in Asira al-Shamaliya, where the need Umm Rajab expressed her gratitude for this support that helps her meet part of her basic needs, while Abu Sobhi emphasized the importance of the assistance provided by the SadaNews Center since the beginning of the crisis.
Intensive Relief Efforts in Jenin
In Jenin Governorate, iftar meals and food parcels were distributed in partnership with the "Palestine Our Call to Life" Association, through the Ramadan Nisan Kitchen, which provides about 3,000 meals daily for the displaced, amidst a harsh living reality and increasing humanitarian needs.
Salah al-Din Mansour, in his talk to the SadaNews Center, indicated that the need has become urgent at this stage, thanking the SadaNews Center and partnering institutions for their efforts, especially with the Nisan Kitchen continuing for the sixth consecutive year.
Food Parcels in Ein Camp to Enhance Solidarity
In the Ein camp east of Nablus, the center distributed food parcels to the camp's residents, in a step aimed at enhancing social solidarity and supporting the resilience of the population.
Gaza: Food Shortage and Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis
In the Gaza Strip, efforts to distribute food parcels and iftar meals continued in the Mawasi area, where residents are still suffering from severe food shortages and difficulty in obtaining it, due to the harsh living conditions that have worsened after the war.
