Charges Filed Against Two After Explosive Device Found Outside Military Base in Florida
SadaNews - A U.S. court has charged a man who fled to China and his sister after placing an explosive device outside the gate of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, earlier this month.
A U.S. court has filed charges against Alan Cheng (20 years old) and Ann Marie Cheng (27 years old) in two separate federal indictments, according to the Associated Press.
A social media post from the FBI director Kash Patel indicated that the sister is in custody, while the brother is on the run.
Alan Cheng faces charges of attempting to damage government property, making an explosive device illegally, and possessing an unregistered explosive device. The indictment specifically refers to the device found in front of MacDill Air Force Base.
Ann Marie Cheng has been charged with influencing witnesses and aiding a fugitive in the case against Alan Cheng.
A suspicious package was found outside MacDill Air Force Base on March 16, prompting the FBI to open an investigation.
MacDill Air Force Base is home to the U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for U.S. military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of South Asia.
