Election of a New Mayor for Akka
SadaNews - The re-elections for the mayorship in the city of Akka, which took place yesterday, Tuesday, by court order, resulted in the victory of candidate Ohad Sigaf, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
The voter turnout was 48.21%, and Sigaf was announced as the winner of the Akka mayorship after receiving 12,941 votes, which accounts for 59.15% of the votes cast, allowing him to lead the city until the next local elections in two years.
In comparison, the former mayor, Amichai Ben Shlush, received 8,937 votes, representing 40.85% of the total votes.
The polling stations closed at ten o'clock in the evening, and they were distributed near shelters due to the war with Iran and the falling of missiles, according to the instructions of the Home Front.
The number of eligible voters was approximately 46,544, a third of whom are Arab citizens, distributed across 79 polling stations.
In this context, the "Akka Gathers Us" list, led by Yusuf Tantouri, announced its support for Ben Shlush, while the "Unity of the Akkawi" list, headed by Adham Jumal and including political forces such as the Islamic Movement (Southern) and the Front, expressed its support for the candidate Sigaf. Jumal is expected to be appointed as the deputy mayor according to their prior agreement.
