Video: Occupation Forces Jerusalemite to Demolish His Home by Himself

SadaNews - Jerusalemite citizen Ahmed Hamed Bakirat from the town of Sur Baher was forced to self-demolish part of his home during the days of Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of a demolition order issued against him last Sunday, which granted him a ten-day deadline to comply, in order to avoid bearing the exorbitant demolition costs imposed by the occupying municipality.

The demolition took place at a time when he was supposed to be spending the holiday with his family, but the order forced him to start demolishing part of his home against his will.

The targeted part for demolition pertains to an added space estimated at about 80 square meters, which was built about ten years ago, and where he lives with his wife.

Bakirat had previously paid fines exceeding ten thousand dollars, in addition to continuing licensing procedures, yet this did not prevent the issuance of the demolition order, which compelled him to carry it out himself, in order to avoid incurring additional financial burdens. This was also reported by the media of the Jerusalem Governorate.
