Details of the extremist "Ben Gvir" storming Section (26) in "Ofer" prison and the display of repression against prisoners
SadaNews - The Prisoners' Club published today, Monday, details of an incursion carried out by repressive units last week in "Ofer" prison, accompanied by the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir and several Israeli media outlets, which was later shared on social media.
The club confirmed in a statement, following its lawyer's visit to several prisoners in "Ofer" prison, that the incursion targeted Section 26, and took place during "count time" or what is known as the evening "security check," lasting about fifteen minutes, accompanied by police dogs and the use of stun grenades, amid a significant media presence.
The club noted that "Ben Gvir" was in the section for about an hour, during which he delivered a speech that included provocative and insulting phrases aimed at the prisoners, while the incursion ended without any injuries reported among them, describing what occurred as akin to a show, in the context of the competition among government ministers to take revenge on Palestinians, repress them, kill them, and combat their existence.
In this regard, the Prisoners' Club reiterated that the extremist minister "Ben Gvir's" insistence on publishing clips documenting the repression and mistreatment of prisoners, accompanied by propaganda slogans related to the execution of Palestinian prisoners, represents one of the main tactics he uses for multiple objectives, including attempting to gain support from the Israeli public, and bragging about his ongoing crimes inside prisons and camps, which have become one of the prominent arenas for genocide, resulting in the death of more than a hundred prisoners and detainees, of whom the identities of 88 have been announced.
The club emphasized that these clips represent only a small part of the systematic torture operations against prisoners, carried out by the occupation system across various prisons, noting that hundreds of testimonies documented by specialized institutions reflect these violations since the beginning of this genocidal crime, whether through legal teams following up on visits to prisoners and detainees or through the testimonies of released prisoners.
Among those testimonies are accounts from several prisoners regarding the extremist minister "Ben Gvir" stepping on prisoners' heads during his visits to the prisons and filming the humiliation, torture, and mistreatment they suffer. Prisoners also confirmed that the repressive forces force them to keep their heads and faces pressed to the ground during repression operations, aiming to humiliate them and degrade their dignity while physically torturing them.
The Prisoners' Club emphasized that the Israeli occupation prison system has deliberately, since the beginning of the genocide, spread more videos and images documenting the mistreatment of prisoners, in an ongoing attempt to target the will of the Palestinian prisoner, affect the collective consciousness of their image, intimidate the families of the prisoners, and compete to achieve higher levels of brutality to gain more support within Israeli society, satisfying their vengeful desire, with no regard for the serious violations of human laws and norms these practices entail, and a blatant disrespect for human dignity.
The club renewed its call for urgent intervention to stop the genocide inside prisons, empowering international organizations, led by the International Committee of the Red Cross, to visit the prisoners, allowing families to visit them, and imposing sanctions on the occupation and its leaders to halt the policy of impunity.
