Sheikh Holds a Wide-Ranging Meeting with Ambassadors from Arab and Western Countries and International Delegations to Discuss Israeli Escalation

SadaNews - Today, Tuesday, in Ramallah, the Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, held a wide-ranging meeting that included ambassadors from Arab and Western countries, representatives of diplomatic missions, along with representatives from international organizations working in Palestine, to discuss the ongoing Israeli escalation and its serious implications on political and humanitarian situations.

Sheikh informed the attendees about the latest developments related to the practices of the Israeli occupation, particularly the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which is accompanied by siege, starvation, and unprecedented humanitarian suffering, in addition to the escalating assaults by settlers in the West Bank, and the continuation of land confiscation policies, along with the withholding of Palestinian funds which has led to a financial and economic crisis, in a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

During the meeting, Sheikh emphasized the need to move forward in enhancing democracy in Palestine, holding elections at all levels, along with reforms, combating corruption, and drafting a constitution for the State of Palestine, in continuation of the preparation process that has been ongoing for decades to transition from an authority to a state.

Sheikh also reviewed the recent decisions of the Israeli ministerial council, which represent a clear abandonment of commitments and signed agreements, and a direct undermining of all international charters and treaties, warning of the repercussions of these policies on the chances of achieving security and stability in the region.

During the meeting, Sheikh stressed the necessity for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, to exert genuine and effective pressure on the occupying government to stop its aggression and ongoing violations, to respect international law, and to ensure respect for the sovereignty of the internationally recognized State of Palestine, affirming that the continued international silence encourages the occupation to continue its aggressive and settlement policies, as a policy of condemnation and denunciation is no longer sufficient. The international community must take clear and deterrent actions that genuinely contribute to the application of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, leading to the establishment of the Palestinian state.
