Curfew in Hasakah and Qamishli in Preparation for Implementing the Damascus and SDF Agreement

SadaNews - The Kurdish security forces (Asayish) announced a curfew in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli in northeastern Syria, as a step to facilitate the implementation of the agreement reached between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) regarding the integration of autonomous administration institutions into state institutions.

The Asayish stated in a statement that the curfew in Hasakah will begin on Monday morning from 6 AM to 6 PM, while the same measure will be applied in Qamishli on Tuesday, indicating that the decision comes in the context of maintaining security and stability and ensuring the safety of residents.

In this context, a Kurdish security source reported that the head of internal security in Hasakah, Marwan Ali, visited the headquarters of the Kurdish security forces in Qamishli on Sunday, as part of the coordination related to implementing the terms of the agreement.

Damascus and the SDF reached a comprehensive agreement on Friday, which stipulates the integration of civil and military institutions affiliated with the Kurdish autonomous administration into Syrian state institutions, following weeks of clashes that allowed government forces to extend their control over vast areas in northern and eastern Syria.

For his part, SDF commander Mazloum Kobane announced that the agreement will begin to be implemented on the ground starting Monday, explaining that forces from both sides will withdraw from the areas of conflict in northeastern regions and the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in Aleppo's countryside, while a limited security force will enter the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli.

In a related context, the head of internal security in Aleppo, Mohamed Abdul Ghani, stated that he visited the Ayn al-Arab area and met with security leaders affiliated with the SDF, confirming that the meeting was characterized by positive atmospheres and that the Syrian state seeks to build a state of law and discipline.

Abdul Ghani sent direct reassurance messages to the Syrian Kurds, affirming that Syria in its new era is not a state of revenge or show of force, pointing to the state's awareness of the historical injustices suffered by the Kurdish component, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to lift the injustice from all Syrians.

The agreement includes integrating the institutions of the autonomous administration into Syrian state institutions, stabilizing civil servants, resolving civil and educational rights for the Kurdish community, and ensuring the return of displaced persons to their areas, in a step aimed at unifying Syrian territories, enhancing stability, and rebuilding the country through cooperation and unifying efforts among various parties.
