Informed Sources: Trump Considering Strikes Against Iran to Support New Protests

SadaNews - Informed sources stated that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering military options against Iran, including targeted strikes on security forces and leaders in the country, with the aim of supporting a new wave of protests, at a time when Israeli and Arab officials assert that airstrikes alone will not be sufficient to topple the regime in Tehran.

American sources reported that Trump is seeking to create conditions for what he described as "regime change," following the Iranian authorities' crackdown on protests that took place in several cities, resulting in thousands of deaths.

According to these sources, discussions are underway to target leadership and institutions that Washington considers responsible for the violence, to give protesters greater confidence in facing government and security forces.

Discussions within the U.S. administration indicated that the options on the table also include launching a broader strike that could target ballistic missile programs or uranium enrichment facilities, with the aim of creating a long-term impact on Iran's capabilities.

However, the sources confirmed that Trump has not yet made a final decision regarding resorting to military action.

These statements coincided with the arrival of an American aircraft carrier and supporting warships in the Middle East, which enhanced Washington's ability to carry out any potential military move.

Trump reiterated his call for Iran to come to the negotiating table and reach a nuclear agreement, warning that the next American attack would be "much worse" should the diplomatic path fail.

In contrast, Tehran vowed to respond to any military action. The advisor to the Supreme Leader, Ali Shamkhani, stated that any American attack would be met with targeting the United States and Israel and their supporters, while Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared for immediate and strong retaliation, while emphasizing their country's readiness to reach a fair and equitable nuclear agreement without threats or coercion.

Trump also announced that an American naval force led by the aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" is approaching Iran amid rising tensions between the two countries following recent developments and the crackdown on protests within Iran.
