Eight-Year Prison Sentence for Mahmoud Bashkar on Security Charges
SadaNews - The Central Court in Haifa imposed, yesterday Tuesday, an actual prison sentence of eight years and a fine of 7,500 shekels on the young man Mahmoud Hussein Bashkar (38 years old) from the city, following accusations of "planning to carry out an explosion and possession of explosive materials."
The public prosecution had requested a 13-year prison sentence for Bashkar, but after a series of deliberation sessions, the court decided to limit the sentence to eight years in prison.
For its part, the Bashkar family rejects the charges against their son, asserting that he was working in the renovations field, and that the explosive materials found by Israeli forces were located near his home in the village of Kabul at the moment of his arrest, where he had moved to live a few years ago.
It is noted that the Israeli Security Agency (Shabak) and the central investigation unit in the northern district announced on January 9, 2025, the thwarting of an attempt to carry out an explosion inside the country, following the arrest of Bashkar from his home in the town of Kabul, northern Akka, northern Israel.
