Al-Hayya: Our Priority is to Completely End the War and Restore National Unity
SadaNews - Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the political bureau of Hamas, stated on Wednesday evening that the priorities for the upcoming phase are to work on a comprehensive cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip, ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal from it, in addition to restoring national unity, and opening up relations with all Arab and Islamic countries.
This was stated in Al-Hayya's speech on the occasion of his election as head of Hamas.
Al-Hayya said: We will continue on the same path, carrying the banner until it stabilizes over Al-Aqsa and the lands of Palestine, and we will continue to work in all directions until we alleviate the pain of our people in Gaza and restore a dignified life for them.
He added: The enemy seeks to seize the West Bank and Judaize it, and defending it is a responsibility on our shoulders.
He affirmed that Hamas's priorities are based on a comprehensive cessation of aggression and a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the reconstruction of Gaza is an inherent right and cannot be linked to negotiations.
He stressed that Hamas will continue to move in all directions for Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the prisoners.
He called on the sponsoring countries of the negotiation process to exert pressure on the occupation to implement what has been agreed upon and to move to the next stage, affirming Hamas's rejection of all that diminishes the legitimate rights of our people, especially our right to liberation, establishing a state, and self-determination.
He appreciated the role of the mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey who are making every effort to stop the bleeding in the Gaza Strip, saying: What is happening in the region proves that the stability of the Palestinian people is the key to the stability of the region.
He added: We tell the international community that the standard of justice completely collapses if you fail to protect the people of Gaza.
He affirmed the importance of achieving Palestinian national unity and that Hamas extends its hands to all components and Palestinian forces, saying: The current phase does not rely on exclusivity or exclusion.
The head of Hamas called for a national dialogue and to work on rebuilding Palestinian institutions, foremost of which is the Palestinian Liberation Organization, on democratic foundations in accordance with national consensus and full partnership.
Al-Hayya confirmed that Hamas will enhance strategic relations with its Arab and Islamic surroundings.
