Palestinian and Islamic Welcome to the Decisions of the Netherlands and Belgium to Ban Settlement Products

SadaNews - The Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, welcomed the decision of both Belgium and the Netherlands to ban the import of products from illegal Israeli settlements.

Sheikh confirmed, in a post on his official account on the platform "X", that this step is positive and important; as it aligns with the provisions of international law, the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, in addition to UN Security Council Resolution No. (2334) which affirms the illegitimacy of settlement, and related international legitimacy resolutions.

The Vice President called on all countries of the world to take similar actions to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its illegal escalation policies in the occupied State of Palestine. He stressed the necessity of taking more effective steps to curb the terrorism of settlers, which he described as having crossed all boundaries and targeted Palestinian citizens in their lives, property, and agricultural lands.

Meanwhile, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed the same decision.

The Secretariat stated in a statement on Wednesday that these two decisions represent a well-deserved legal and political achievement, embodying the principles of international justice, aligning with the rules of international law, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among which is UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegitimacy of colonialism and the necessity of an immediate and complete cessation of all colonial activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

The Secretariat reiterated its call to all countries of the world and the international community to follow in the footsteps of these two decisions, and to take all practical and legislative measures to ban all economic, financial, and service activities that are linked to the Israeli occupation authorities and its "colonial system" in the occupied Palestinian territories.
