Organization of Islamic Cooperation Condemns Nauru's Decision to Open an Embassy in Occupied Jerusalem

SadaNews - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has expressed its strong condemnation of the Republic of Nauru's decision to open an embassy with the Israeli occupying authorities in the city of occupied Jerusalem. It considers this step a violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, undermining international efforts aimed at achieving peace based on the two-state solution. The General Secretariat affirmed its rejection of this illegal decision, as it constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly resolutions 476 (1980) and 478 (1980), which affirm the nullification of all Israeli actions aimed at altering the character of the city of Jerusalem and its legal and demographic status, and call on countries to refrain from establishing diplomatic missions in the city and to withdraw any existing missions from it. The General Secretariat urged the Government of the Republic of Nauru to reconsider this decision, adhere to its responsibilities under the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions, and support international efforts aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
