A Young Man from Palestinian Interior Killed by Israeli Police Gunfire in Ibtin

SadaNews - A young man in his thirties was killed early this Friday morning by gunfire from Israeli police officers in the town of Ibtin in the Haifa area within the 1948 territories.

Local sources reported that the victim is Shaam Shami from Akka, who resides in Ibtin with his mother at his uncles' house.

In a related context, protesters closed a section of Road 79 near Bir al-Maksur for the second consecutive day, denouncing the murder that occurred in Shfaram last Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of three residents of the town. Meanwhile, hundreds of residents from Tar’aan and the surrounding area demonstrated on Thursday evening on Road 77 at the town's intersection against the escalating murder crimes in the Palestinian community within the 1948 territories, following the murder of a father and his son (16 years old) from the town.

Murder crimes and violent incidents continue to escalate in the Palestinian community within the 1948 territories, with a dangerous and rising trend. Since the beginning of this year, and with today marking the ninth day of the new year, 13 murder cases have been recorded amid a rising wave of insecurity.

The year 2025 recorded an unprecedented number of murders, totaling 252 victims, amid accusations of the Israeli police's negligence and complicity with organized crime and their failure to provide security and safety for Arab citizens.

The past year also witnessed the highest number of murders of women, with 23 cases, in addition to 12 murder cases involving children under the age of eighteen, as well as victims who fell to stray bullets or due to fatal errors or during interventions by the Israeli police, showcasing a daily scene reflecting the widening circle of violence and chaos of firearms.
