The President thanks his Algerian counterpart for supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause
SadaNews - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas thanked the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his continuous support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
In a message sent to his Algerian counterpart, he said: "I send this message to my brother, His Excellency the President, on the occasion of Algeria's fourth tenure in its history, holding a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, representing the Arab group, during which it provided a model that the world witnesses, marked by experience and wisdom while respecting values, justice, and equality, achieving its objectives in holding this important diplomatic position, with the Palestinian issue at the forefront of its priorities."
He added: "On behalf of the State of Palestine and its people, and in my personal capacity, we extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Your Excellency, and through you to the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of Algeria to the United Nations, especially to His Excellency Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf and the Permanent Representative in New York, Ambassador Ammar Benjamaa, who, under your guidance, have made diligent efforts and professional work, providing fair support for the Palestinian cause and people during one of the harshest stages we are experiencing, amid a brutal war on the Gaza Strip, and targeting and assaults on our people in the cities and villages of the West Bank and the Holy Jerusalem."
He clarified that this is not surprising for Algeria, with its leadership and brotherly people, who have supported the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights at all levels and throughout all stages of their struggle, the original and brotherly Algerian role in unifying the Palestinian ranks, hosting Palestinian factions, as well as hosting national councils during which the Palestine Liberation Organization proclaimed the independence of the State of Palestine, and it is no secret that Algeria has provided financial support to bolster the steadfastness of our Palestinian people and its national institutions in the direst circumstances.
In conclusion of the message, he renewed his thanks and appreciation, asking God to preserve the President of Algeria in health and happiness, and to grant Algeria, its people, and government safety and security, and to achieve more progress and prosperity.
