National Council: Israel's recognition of Somaliland is a dubious step
SadaNews - Palestinian National Council President Rahi Fitouh stated that the Israeli occupation government's recognition of the Somaliland region and the mutual recognition is a dubious step that lacks legal and moral legitimacy and falls within the framework of attempts to circumvent international law and consensus. It solidifies colonial dominance, expands conflicts, and causes regional instability.
The president confirmed that this direction cannot be separated from the declared and covert intentions of the occupation government to expel the residents of Gaza Strip and propose geographic alternatives outside of the homeland in a rejected political deal aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and addressing the crime of occupation with a crime even greater than it.
He added that it would be more appropriate for the occupation government to recognize the right of the Palestinian people to their independent sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital, and to commit to implementing international legitimacy resolutions, ending the war, and lifting the unjust blockade on the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that attempts to buy political recognitions through side deals will not grant legitimacy to the occupation and will not change its reality as an occupying force that practices aggression, starvation, and genocide. He emphasized that just peace cannot be achieved by displacing peoples or through dubious deals, but by ending the occupation and ensuring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people in full.
