The Ambassador of the State of Palestine and the Head of the Palestinian Journalists' Union Inform Slovak Parliamentarians of Occupation Violations

SadaNews - The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Slovakia, Safaa Khalidi, and the Head of the Palestinian Journalists' Union, Nasser Abu Bakr, briefed the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Slovak Parliament, members of the committee, and several members of Slovakia in the European Parliament about the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

During the meeting, Khalidi addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza amid the continuous occupation violations, emphasizing that the humanitarian catastrophe is worsening daily with the ongoing aggression and targeting of our Palestinian people.

She called for serious pressure on Israel to stop the genocide entirely, to move forward with the reconstruction plan, and to empower the Palestinian National Authority to fulfill its duties in all areas, in addition to the necessity of releasing the withheld clearance funds as they are a financial right of the Palestinian people.

The ambassador also reviewed the violations by the occupation forces and settler gangs in the West Bank, asserting that these policies have become organized and aim to undermine any possibility for peace.

For his part, Abu Bakr provided a comprehensive presentation on the crimes and severe violations against journalists in Gaza and the West Bank, noting that journalists are directly targeted and face killing, injury, and arrest, in addition to threats to their families and daily lives. He emphasized that the situation in Gaza is particularly catastrophic, as hundreds of journalists have lost their lives while performing their professional duties.

He also addressed the conditions of journalists inside the occupation prisons, confirming that they are subjected to serious violations of their fundamental rights, including humiliation of human dignity, ill-treatment, and deprivation of the most basic legal and humanitarian rights, in an attempt to silence the Palestinian journalistic voice and prevent it from conveying the truth to the world.

For their part, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and members of the Slovak Parliament, as well as Slovak deputies in the European Parliament, expressed their deep concern over the continuation of crimes against civilians and journalists, affirming their commitment to studying steps to enhance political and humanitarian pressure at both the national and European levels to support the Palestinian people.
