Palestine Embassy in Germany Commemorates International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

SadaNews: The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Germany commemorated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in a large event attended by official, parliamentary, and party representatives from Germany, as well as over 50 embassies, alongside representatives from international organizations including Amnesty and UNRWA, civil society institutions, and a crowd of members from the Palestinian community.

Ambassador Lyth Aref expressed his gratitude in his speech for this widespread solidarity that carries a clear message supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the plight of the Palestinian people in light of the genocide targeting our people in various locations, particularly Gaza, and the humanitarian suffering. He presented to the attendees several members of the community from Gaza who lost their loved ones and relatives during the genocide.

The German Foreign Office participated for the first time in this event, where Jörg Vallendi, Director of the Middle East Department at the German Foreign Office, emphasized Germany's desire to strengthen the friendly relations between the German and Palestinian peoples, expressing his gratitude to the Palestinian ambassador for the efforts made in this regard.

Former German Foreign Minister and Deputy Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel was the guest of honor at the event, where he expressed his shame that the international community allowed the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, especially over the past two years in Gaza. He also condemned the use of the accusation of anti-Semitism against anyone who criticizes the crimes perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people, recalling what he personally experienced in terms of accusations of anti-Semitism when he described, during his tenure as Foreign Minister, what was happening in Palestine as "apartheid."

The extensive participation from official, diplomatic, and human rights representatives reflected the broad scope of solidarity within Germany and the international community with the Palestinian people on this global occasion.
