Rubio: Venezuela is a Base for Iran and Hezbollah in South America
SadaNews - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Venezuela has become a foothold for Iran, the Revolutionary Guard, and even Hezbollah, pointing out that Iran and its allies have a growing presence in South America, and that one of their main bases is located within Venezuelan territory itself, as translated by SadaNews.
Rubio added in an interview with Fox News that the regime of President Nicolás Maduro "allows the smuggling of cocaine and drugs produced in Colombia through Venezuela to the United States," stressing that Venezuela has turned into a "source of instability for the entire region."
The American official indicated that President Donald Trump issued a mission mandate to combat drug trafficking in the region, and that Maduro's objection to this mission is "evidence of the Venezuelan regime's involvement in smuggling networks." He also accused Maduro of violating five agreements made over the past years with various parties.
