Ain Mahla: Protest Following School Guard's Shooting Incident
SadaNews - dozens of students, faculty members, and parents participated this morning, Monday, in a protest at the entrance of the comprehensive high school in the town of Ain Mahla, in the Nazareth district, northern Israel, in protest against the shooting incident involving the school guard that occurred yesterday.
Participants raised banners with slogans denouncing violence and crime, such as: "Violence does not build our society, safety does" and "When the school is under fire... and even the security guard becomes a target, we have the right to ask, where is the safety?" and "We stand today to protect tomorrow" and "Security is a value we protect together" and "Bullets roam without fear while hearts tremble every night... how long will a human life be cheaper than a bullet?".
The school guard was shot yesterday, Sunday, while on duty at the school entrance, and his injuries were described as moderate, leading to his transfer to the Italian hospital in Nazareth for treatment.
The incident has created a state of shock, anger, and fear among students, parents of Ain Mahla, and the entire Arab community, following a recurrence of shooting incidents near and within schools, which seriously raises alarm bells.
