Occupation Forces Demolish More than 10 Commercial Establishments at the Entrance of al-Liqiya in the Negev

SadaNews - This morning, Tuesday, Israeli occupation bulldozers, under heavy police guard, demolished more than ten shops at the entrance of the town of al-Liqiya in the Negev, causing a wave of anger and condemnation among shop owners and residents of the town.

This demolition is part of a wide campaign that several Arab towns in the Negev have been witnessing in recent weeks, amid accusations against the authorities of pursuing a systematic policy of tightening and the absence of regulatory solutions that allow for a stable economic life and organized commercial spaces for the residents.

Shop owners confirmed that these establishments constitute a source of livelihood for dozens of families, noting that the demolition was carried out without providing alternatives or licensing plans that would enable them to operate legally on their lands.

In contrast, the Israel Land Authority justified the operation by stating that the shops were established without licenses and violate regulatory laws.

Local and Negev leaders have called for unity and solidarity in the face of what they describe as "the threat that endangers everyone without exception," demanding the Israeli government to immediately halt the campaign and open a serious and responsible dialogue with representatives of the Arab community in the Negev to find fair and permanent solutions.

The Negev bodies also emphasized that what the authorities call "combatting violations of state lands" is nothing but a continuation of a systematic displacement policy aimed at confiscating Arab lands for the benefit of settlement and military projects, under a misleading legal and media guise.
