Commemorating the 69th Anniversary of the Kafr Qasim Massacre Martyrs

SadaNews - Thousands of residents of Kafr Qasim in the Triangle area and members of the Arab community, including the mayor and members of the Kafr Qasim municipality, the popular committee, political party leaders and activists, participated this morning, Wednesday, in the annual march to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Kafr Qasim massacre martyrs.

Thousands of residents and activists gathered at the Martyrs' Roundabout before the march began and the commemoration ceremonies for the 69th anniversary of the Kafr Qasim massacre started.

Participating in the march wore black shirts inscribed with "The 69th Anniversary of the Kafr Qasim Massacre, Sixty-nine years and the wound of the massacre still bleeds."

Black flags were raised in mourning for the souls of the martyrs, images of the massacre victims, and banners with slogans like "No Forgetting.. No Forgiveness," amid chants denouncing the policies of the Israeli government, and others demanding that the government acknowledge the massacre and take responsibility for it.

The march commenced at 8:30 AM from the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque square to the monument of the martyrs, with wide participation from the residents of the city, families of the martyrs, and school students, emphasizing the importance of preserving collective memory and not forgetting the massacre.

The march was organized by the Kafr Qasim municipality and the popular committee, which emphasized that the massacre will remain an open wound in Palestinian consciousness and called for solidifying the Palestinian narrative and conveying it to future generations through educational activities and initiatives.

The Kafr Qasim massacre, which occurred on October 29, 1956, resulting in the deaths of 49 martyrs from the town at the hands of Israeli "Border Guard" soldiers, is considered one of the most tragic events in the history of Palestinians within the Green Line, having turned into a symbol of the injustice they face, and an annual station to renew the pledge to uphold national identity and continue the struggle for justice and raise the voice of the victims.
