The Ministry of Education announces the results of the General Secondary Exam for 2006 students from Gaza

SadaNews - Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the results of the General Secondary Exam for students from the Gaza Strip born in 2006, where approximately 26,000 students from various directorates in the sector took the exam.

This announcement was made during a press conference held by Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, in the presence of Minister of Social Development Dr. Samah Hamad, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Palestine Issam Al-Badour, President of the Islamic University, Dr. Jaafar Al-Fanatseh, Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Nafe' Asaf, representatives from the educational community, members from the operations room, partner institutions, and journalists.

In her welcoming remarks, Hamad stated that the announcement of the General Secondary Exam results from here, from the heart of the government operations room that has provided and continues to provide relief to our people in Gaza, despite the pain and blockade, today we smile and uplift hope and life, appreciating the collective effort of all partners to achieve this milestone, while remembering the martyrs among our children and students, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to rebuild and restore Gaza.

Minister Barham said: "For the first time in the ministry's history, the General Secondary Exam was conducted electronically, which multiplied the challenges faced, including internet disruptions, displacement, hunger, lack of electricity, and the loss of some students' families. However, the students proved they were capable of overcoming challenges, persevered, and demonstrated that the impossible is not Palestinian.

He added: Today, we announce our readiness to continue the steps we have begun, stressing the need for a field survey to assess the real situation of schools, the condition of school buildings, community gathering places, and the status of teachers. We are ready to redesign our interventions to continue our commitment to rescue the educational process for students in Gaza in schools and universities.

He further stated: We announce today the results of the General Secondary Exam for students born in 2006, and we continue to conduct the exam electronically for students born in 2007 with the participation of nearly 31,000 students. We are also preparing to hold the third cycle of the regular Tawjihi exam for students from Gaza in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and in 22 other countries starting from the 24th of next month, all steps that fall within our commitment to the directives of the President, the Prime Minister, and the government to provide the utmost support to students in Gaza.
He said: We will not announce a specific success rate today, but I assure you that it exceeds expectations, and that the top ten students in the scientific and literary streams and the top students in other streams will receive a scholarship from His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, may God protect him, with the start of providing more scholarships for students in Gaza.

Barham expressed his gratitude to the King of Jordan, His Highness Prince Ghazi, the Islamic University, the Education for All Foundation, and all partners in Qatar, Jordan, and the supportive educational teams who followed up on this significant effort.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Badour praised this achievement accomplished under difficult circumstances and formidable challenges, emphasizing the continuity of royal directives to support education in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, expressing his pride and gratitude to partners in the Ministry of Education and the Islamic University for their integrated efforts in achieving this accomplishment, congratulating the students on their success.

For his part, Al-Fanatseh emphasized the importance of this event achieved through determination, perseverance, and the diligent efforts of the students from Gaza, announcing the provision of 3,000 free scholarships for undergraduate students, congratulating the families of the students on their success and excellence, expressing his gratitude to the King of Jordan, Prince Ghazi, and all parties that supported this achievement, commending the qualitative partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and all those who supported and followed through until this national achievement was realized, which forms a significant step in education despite all challenges.

At the end of the conference, Director General of Examinations Muhammad Masalmah announced the results of the top ten students, naming this cohort "The Phoenix Cohort" in a message that among the rubble, hope arises, ambition renews, and students from Gaza rise once again.
