The Death of Young Mehran Abu Raqiq in a Shooting Incident in Tel as-Sabi

SadaNews - Today, Tuesday, doctors confirmed the death of young Mehran Hassan Abu Raqiq (22 years old) from the town of Tel as-Sabi in the Negev region, who was shot last night.

Relatives of the murder victim reported that there was a deterioration in Abu Raqiq's condition, who was receiving treatment at "Soroka" Hospital in Beersheba. His condition was serious, but stable in the hours leading up to his death.

The murder victim had married last year and was the third family member to lose their life due to murder in recent years.

A state of sadness and grief spread in the town as soon as the tragic news broke, and a number of residents gathered at the deceased's home to offer condolences and support in their time of great loss.

In a related context, young Ali Wael Awawdeh (22 years old) from Kafr Kanna in the Galilee region, in the northern part of the country, was killed early Tuesday in a shooting incident while riding an ATV in the town.

The number of murder victims in the Arab community continues to rise, reaching 202 fatalities since the beginning of 2025, marking one of the highest tolls in recent years amid governmental negligence and the escalation of organized crime.

Data indicates that 170 people were killed by gunfire, with 100 of the victims under the age of thirty, including three children who had not yet reached the age of eighteen. Additionally, there have been 10 murders recorded by the police.

These shocking figures reflect the extent of the escalating violence and crime in the Arab community, amid the complicity and failure of the Israeli police to fulfill their role in combating crime and holding criminals accountable.
