"Andalusian Apiaries": The Story of a Couple Who Shared Life and Success Together
SadaNews Report - The story of the Andalusian apiaries began where Islam Daghlas and Suhair Barghoul met, as the couple carved their path together in a beekeeping project in Jenin. Hand in hand, they continued the journey of producing natural honey and its derived products, carrying the slogan "Nature... The Origin of the Story".
Division of Roles: The Secret to Success
In his interview with SadaNews, Islam attributes the success of their project to what he describes as the essential factor, which is the "division of roles". He focuses on production, while Suhair took on the marketing role, given her marketing background after participating in several training courses, which endowed her with significant marketing skills that helped reach a large segment of the Palestinian society through social media platforms.
Islam added: "The integration of roles between us helped us achieve high-quality production and a large quantity, in addition to reaching new markets to showcase all our products."
Suhair notes: "Each of us specializes in a particular field he masters, and executes it with love, reaching the hearts of customers; hence, we managed to succeed in a record time," adding: "We are the first licensed Palestinian honey company."
Within the factory, roles are distributed between the couple to ensure a complementary workflow that guarantees success and achievement.
Inside the Factory: Comprehensive Task Distribution
Islam recounts the details of the "sorting and packaging" process, stating: "We carry out the process of sorting, filtering, and packaging honey in tanks for storage, after which we work on maturing it to improve its quality and reduce the existing moisture in it."
He pointed out that the final process involves "packaging and labeling" for the delivery and marketing of products to consumers.
Regarding his decision to establish a private company for beekeeping, he says after graduating from university and realizing the difficult economic reality and decreasing job opportunities, he decided to venture into freelance work by establishing a company to develop beehives, especially since he studied veterinary medicine and gained experience in this field. He approached the Palestinian Ministry of Economy and obtained a license under the name of "Andalusian Apiaries."
Islam emphasizes that they care for bee colonies and hives throughout the year, especially in the summer, winter, and spring seasons, aiming to prepare and maintain the bees' health so they can produce honey optimally in the spring. With their experience and knowledge, they have become capable of producing bee colonies and queen bees, which they sell to honey farmers.
Suhair: A Marketing Touch with a Palestinian Flavor
In the corner opposite Islam, Suhair passionately prepares honey packages for their owners, as they pay great attention to how to present and market their products to customers, while also focusing on the high quality of their natural products from their beekeeping farms, which are environmentally friendly as they play a vital role in supporting biodiversity through pollination.
Suhair says while engrossed in packaging one of the parcels: "What distinguishes Andalusian Apiaries is the packaging method; customers prefer this type of packaging," citing the popular saying: "The eye eats before the mouth."
She emphasized that with every package, a phrase is included carrying the mark of Palestinian symbolism, such as: "A Palestinian flavor, when you taste it, you’ll know why we love our land."
Towards Globalization: High-Quality Export
Andalusian Apiaries are the first licensed beekeeping company in Palestine, and the couple seeks to obtain local and international certifications to ensure the quality of honey for export beyond Palestine and reach every corner of the world.
They are working on producing honey of various types (mountain honey, sidr honey), along with "nut honey, various flavored butters, and pollen grains," among other products that are marketed professionally through photography and presentation on their website and social media platforms.
