SadaNews Report: Israeli Elections with a Settlement Flavor!
Exclusive to "SadaNews": Israel intensifies its settlement war in the West Bank amidst the threat from its Defense Minister, Israel Katz, regarding the possibility of establishing settlement "outposts" in northern Gaza in the coming period if Hamas does not agree to disarm, in a step within a series of rapid and continuous moves that do not halt the settlement machine, represented by Betzalel Smotrich and far-right leaders, under the auspices of the seasoned politician Benjamin Netanyahu, who manages it all from behind the scenes with a single goal: to continue ruling Israel.
It is no longer a secret that the weapon of settlement in the West Bank is the way to gain votes for the Knesset elections set to take place at the end of October. Palestinian blood has primarily remained alongside the expansion of settlements and the seizure of land in the West Bank and Jerusalem, as the path to leading the rule in Israel.
As the "Hebrew Translation" section of "SadaNews" has been following for days, Netanyahu is considering, as reported by Maariv newspaper, giving Smotrich a seat within Likud to ensure his presence in the next government in case the Religious Zionism party led by the "King of Settlement" (Smotrich), as he is now called in the West Bank settlements, collapses. Recent polls indicate that his party has crossed the threshold after consecutive announcements about expanding settlements and constructing new ones in the near future.
Netanyahu primarily relies, as the newspaper revealed, on securing votes from settlers in the West Bank, arguing that they should not go to another party such as Gadi Eisenkot, who poses the greatest danger to the far-right coalition currently leading Israel, according to opinion polls that also cannot be relied upon to show the truth of what the election results will be.
Netanyahu has been striving to obtain eight key seats within the first twenty members of the Likud list to ensure that certain people, whether from within his party or outside it, whom he politically agrees with, are included, aiming to ensure their attendance and gain the votes of those who ally with and support them.
Clearly, Netanyahu is seeking to maintain his current government coalition, even though he does not seem motivated, as some leaks hint, to stay with Itamar Ben Gvir, who is causing him many political provocations at the domestic and external levels; however, on another side, he prefers him over cooperating with Benny Gantz or other parties.
The Hebrew affairs editor at "SadaNews" states that Netanyahu is trying to enlist all parties currently within his government coalition to support reshaping the next government and achieving the best possible victory against attempts by opponents to form a larger coalition or achieve a victory that may prevent him from forming the next government. He noted that today, Netanyahu had to return by helicopter from the Negev to Jerusalem to participate in the vote on a bill that grants the Haredi parties a victory against the Israeli army, primarily by rejecting the detention of military service defaulters and granting exemptions to others, including children of Knesset members from those parties.
The editor clarified that Netanyahu wants to buy the favors of all the parties present in the heart of the current government coalition, thus giving them what they want, including settlements and seizing what remains of the West Bank, amidst complete silence from the United States and its President Donald Trump, who claims each time to be against annexation in the West Bank, yet has not effectively forced Netanyahu's government to back down from any of its dangerous plans that are being announced very prominently in recent days and are expected to escalate in the near future.
He pointed out that settlers living in the West Bank regions have often decided the outcomes of some elections in favor of the right over the past decades, amid a clear retreat of the Israeli opposition across various orientations.
Israeli poll results suggest that Gadi Eisenkot, if united with Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, and perhaps other parties, could effectively topple the right-wing coalition, despite Netanyahu’s reliance on a plan to recruit settlers’ votes, of whom some seem to support voting for Eisenkot, which led Smotrich to attack him and claim that he would work on dismantling West Bank settlements as part of an election campaign aimed at preventing him from gaining settlers’ votes.
