Dr. Hadeel Kyal Elected Chair of the Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues

SadaNews - Dr. Hadeel Kyal has been elected Chair of the Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues, succeeding educator and lecturer Dr. Sharaf Hassan, who led the committee since 2018. Dr. Ali Al-Hazil was also elected as the Vice Chair.

The meeting took place yesterday, Saturday, at the Committee's headquarters in Nazareth, with the attendance of the majority of the council's general members from various sectors who participated in the electoral process, congratulating Dr. Hadeel Kyal on her election and wishing her "success in leading the committee in the next phase to serve our people and community". They praised "Dr. Sharaf's significant contributions at various levels and arenas".

It is noteworthy that the candidates for the chairmanship were Dr. Ali Al-Hazil, Dr. Rose Shaban, and Dr. Hadeel Kyal, who won the majority of the votes.

Dr. Sharaf Hassan congratulated the new chair of the committee, stating in his remarks: "I congratulate my colleague Dr. Hadeel Kyal on her election as Chair of the Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues for the upcoming period, wishing her success and good fortune. I will continue my activities within the committee as a supporter and activist for the elected chairperson. The presence of this council filled with concerned figures dedicated to contribution and healthy competition for a leadership role in the committee during these complex times our community and people are living through instills hope and is a beacon of light amidst the darkness."

He added, "Today, I conclude my tenure as chair of the committee after eight years of continuous work in challenging and emergency conditions, alongside opportunities we sought to invest in to develop education in our Arab community. I feel deep gratitude to my community for granting me the honor to serve it through this esteemed committee, and to my colleagues and partners for the fruitful cooperation throughout this journey."

He continued, "At this moment, we reiterate our calls for the war and ongoing aggression against our people to cease and that safety and security prevail in their hearts and souls, and that the children of Gaza enjoy their right to learn like all other children in the world, seated at school desks with dignity and justice."

Hassan concluded his remarks by stating, "The Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues has been and will remain a central pillar in our educational community's journey, as it has played a fundamental role in most of the achievements. It is our duty to continue supporting and developing it to remain a unifying house for the struggle for all our rights and individual and collective demands, building a developed and meaningful education for all our sons and daughters."

For her part, the newly elected chair of the Committee for Arab Education Issues, Dr. Hadeel Kyal, emphasized the "necessity of preserving Arab education and maintaining it as a focal point, viewing it as an existential issue that affects consciousness and sentiment and represents the central pillar for uplifting our community."

She added, "I extend my hand to all forces working in education, and to everyone who sees education as a tool for building and liberation for joint work, collective thinking, and institutional renewal."

Additionally, Dr. Samah Al-Khatib - Ayoub, the General Director of the Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues, stated: "At the Committee for Following Up on Arab Education Issues, both management and staff, we appreciate and value the tremendous efforts and contributions made by our colleague Dr. Sharaf Hassan during the years he led the committee, along with his steadfast and continuous commitment to serving educational and community issues. We also congratulate the new chair, Dr. Hadeel Kyal, on taking on the responsibility of leading the committee, wishing her success in carrying the message and continuing the journey with a spirit of cooperation and determination."

The General Director of the Committee concluded by saying, "Despite the challenges, joining this journey remains a responsibility and an honor. Renewal means harnessing the capacities of our Arab community and organizing them generally, and under current circumstances specifically, with a spirit of partnership and responsibility, while committing to self-accountability within the educational process as children of this homeland. This is the foundation for us to move forward always and forever."
