"YouTube" Launches "Hype" Feature to Support Small Creators

Sada News - YouTube announced on Tuesday the global launch of the "Hype" feature, which allows fans to help their favorite content creators get discovered.

This feature was first introduced at the "Made on YouTube" event by Google in 2024, and it is a dedicated button that appears below the current "like" button. It will be available for videos from creators with less than 500,000 subscribers.

This feature is now available in 39 countries, including the USA, UK, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, and India, according to a report published by TechCrunch and reviewed by Al Arabiya Business.

The feature allows viewers to promote up to three videos weekly for a favorite content creator.

This gives the video points, helping it gain momentum on a new leaderboard that YouTube users can find in the "Explore" list. To make promotion fair, YouTube states that it will give smaller creators a bigger boost.

This means that if a creator has fewer subscribers, they will receive a larger reward when fans promote their videos.

A "Promoter" badge will appear on videos that received this boost from fans, and users can also filter their YouTube homepage feed to display only videos with the new "Promoter" category.

When a promoted video approaches the leaderboard, YouTube will notify the users who contributed to its promotion.

Dedicated fans can also show their support by earning a new "Promotion Star" badge each month.

YouTube stated that it launched the "Promotion" feature because it noticed the enthusiastic desire of fans to participate in the success story of content creators.

However, this addition will also provide a new source of income for YouTube, as the company announced plans to allow fans to purchase more "Promotion" to help boost their favorite videos in the future.

In the short term, YouTube is also developing leaderboards to promote specific interests, such as gaming and fashion, and a way for fans to share their promotion for a specific video.

Content creators can track their promotions and points through the YouTube Studio mobile app, and they can review their video analytics to look for a new promotion card and summary in weekly data reports.
