Trump: We Will Destroy the South Pars Gas Field If Iran Decides to Attack Qatar
SadaNews - President Donald Trump threatened Iran with the destruction of the "South Pars" gas field if it targets energy facilities again, in a notable escalation following recent developments in the region.
Trump stated that the United States may resort to "destroying the field entirely with immense force" if Tehran attacks "innocent" countries like Qatar, warning of serious consequences for any new escalation.
This threat comes after Israel conducted an attack on the South Pars field, targeting a limited part of it, according to American statements.
On Wednesday, Trump said that Israel was the one who carried out the attack on the Iranian South Pars gas field, and that the United States and Qatar were not involved.
Trump wrote on Truth Social: "The United States was not aware of this specific attack, and Qatar was not involved in any way, nor did it have any prior knowledge of its occurrence."
Following the strike, Iran retaliated by targeting a liquefied natural gas facility in Qatar, in what was described as an unjustified step, further escalating tensions in the region.
Trump reaffirmed that he does not desire a wide escalation that could lead to long-term destruction, but emphasized that any threat to energy supplies or targeting of critical infrastructure would be met with a strong and decisive response.
