Report: Unmanned Aircraft Seen Over Military Base in Washington

SadaNews - A report by the Wall Street Journal revealed that U.S. officials spotted unknown drones flying over a military base in the capital, Washington, in a significant security development coinciding with escalating confrontations in the Middle East.

Three people familiar with the details reported that the drones were observed above Fort McNair, which houses the residences of Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, while authorities have yet to determine their source.

According to a senior official in the U.S. administration, the military has enhanced monitoring and preparedness measures amid the heightened alert due to the strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, and the potential for threats to widen.

The report noted that the sighting of multiple drones during one of the nights over the past ten days prompted tightened security measures and a meeting at the White House to discuss ways to address the incident.

In related developments, several U.S. military bases increased their security alert level to "Charlie", indicating a potential threat, including the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst base in New Jersey and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida, which houses U.S. Central Command.

This coincided with Washington issuing a global security warning for its diplomatic missions and conducting immediate reviews of security protocols, in anticipation of what it described as "potential repercussions" from the escalation in the Middle East.
