Qatar's Emir and Macron Call for Halt to Targeting Energy and Water Facilities

SadaNews - Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed that targeting energy and water facilities is a threat to stability, in a call he received from French President Emmanuel Macron following an Iranian attack that targeted the city of Ras Laffan industrial zone.

The Emir of Qatar renewed the call - during the call that discussed the developments in the region - for an immediate halt to escalation, intensifying efforts to contain tensions, and working through diplomatic channels to prevent the crisis from widening.

For his part, the French president emphasized the importance of immediately reaching a halt to military escalation that targets civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water facilities, stressing the necessity of protecting civilians and their basic needs, and safeguarding energy supply security from the repercussions of this military aggression.

"Immediate Halt to Attacks"

Gas facilities in the "South Pars" field in the Assaluyeh area in southern Iran were subjected to rocket attacks yesterday, Wednesday, and the Iranian news agency "Fars" reported that the shelling targeted tanks and facilities within the Assaluyeh refineries.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior also announced today, Thursday, that civil defense managed to control all the fires in the Ras Laffan industrial area, after it was subjected to Iranian attacks last night, Wednesday, and today, Thursday.

In this context, Macron called for an "immediate halt" to the targeting of energy facilities in the region, stating in a post on his account on the "X" platform that he spoke with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and US President Donald Trump, following the strikes that targeted gas production facilities in Iran and Qatar, yesterday, Wednesday.

In this regard, the French president said, "It is in our common interest to implement an immediate halt to strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy and water facilities" in the region.

Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been waging a war against Iran, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of individuals, including leader Ali Khamenei and security officials, while Tehran is responding with missiles and drones towards Israel.

Iran is also targeting what it calls "American interests" in Arab countries, which has caused casualties and injuries and inflicted damage on civilian properties, which has been condemned by the targeted countries.
