Have Mobile Service Prices Increased in Egypt? Telecommunications Regulator Explains

SadaNews - A number of social media users in Egypt circulated information regarding a 30% increase in telecommunications service prices, following the recent hike in gasoline prices and the increase in the dollar's value.

The Egyptian National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority stated in a press release today that the reports published in this regard are entirely false, and that no decisions have been issued concerning any increases at this percentage or any other on telecommunications service prices.

The telecommunications regulator clarifies that any adjustment in telecommunications service prices is studied within a framework that balances the protection of users' rights and interests while ensuring the sustainability of investments and the continuous development of services in the telecommunications sector, which is considered one of the vital and important sectors.

The authority emphasizes that any decision in this regard will only be taken after studying all relevant aspects, in a manner that considers the public interest and maintains a balance among different parties.

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority urges all media outlets and social media users to verify the accuracy of what is published or circulated regarding this issue.
