
Death of a Child from Rahat After Drowning in a Swimming Pool
SadaNews - A 3-year-old child named Jude Imad Al-Omrani was declared dead yesterday evening, Wednesday, in the city of Rahat in the Negev region of occupied Palestine, after drowning in a swimming pool in Jericho in the West Bank, according to local sources.
The sources reported that the drowning incident occurred while the child's family was on a recreational trip in Jericho, as the child fell into a swimming pool and was rescued and attempts were made to revive him to save his life, but the efforts were unsuccessful, and he was later pronounced dead.
This comes a few days after the announcement of the drowning of 6-year-old child Malik Al-Hazil from the city of Rahat, who drowned in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt.
In addition to the death of young Rabi Muhammad Sharif, in his thirties, from the town of Mismis in the Wadi Ara area due to drowning at one of the beaches of Hadera.
According to data from the "Beterem" organization, 79 children, aged from birth to 17 years, have lost their lives due to drowning during swimming seasons from 2020 to 2024, with an average of 16 deaths annually across the country. In the Arab community, 22 deaths have been recorded, which is an average of 4 cases annually, constituting 28% of the total drowning deaths in the country.
The data shows that children from birth to 4 years old are the most vulnerable group to drowning deaths in the Arab community, representing 55% of the total drowning deaths and 80% of all injuries resulting from drowning.
Statistics also indicate that boys aged 10 to 14 years make up 23% of the total drowning deaths in the Arab community.
