The NGO Network: The Israeli Aid System is Designed to Deepen Palestinian Suffering
SadaNews - The Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO) strongly condemns the systematic obstruction by the Israeli occupation authorities and the militarization of humanitarian aid, which has increased the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The so-called "aid system" designed by Israel was created to prolong famine, collective punishment, and mass death, rather than to provide genuine support. As Palestinians, we have not seen any improvement on the ground despite the new Israeli measures.
The recent massacres at aid distribution sites, where more than 1,200 starving Palestinians, including women and children, were killed while desperately searching for food, are evidence of Israel's genocidal policies. The Israeli occupation army has turned these "humanitarian" points into killing fields, deliberately targeting civilians at their most vulnerable moments.
Now, the Israeli occupation's announcement of a "humanitarian pause in attacks" and limited aid access is nothing but an attempt to mislead. While the world is deceived by empty gestures, Israel continues to impose strict restrictions on the flow of aid, while allowing its armed gangs to loot and sabotage the little aid that enters. This systematic looting ensures that famine remains a weapon of war, in flagrant violation of international law and the temporary measures mandated by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report confirms our worst fears: "The worst-case scenario of famine is unfolding in the Gaza Strip," as Palestinians – especially children – fade away due to hunger and disease. This is not a natural disaster, but a calculated starvation process used as a tool of genocide.
We demand immediate action:
1. International protection: The international community must intervene to secure humanitarian corridors that ensure safe and unobstructed entry of aid into Gaza – free from Israeli restrictions and looting by occupation-supported militias.
2. Protection of civilians: The targeting of civilians and humanitarian workers must end. The United Nations and responsible countries should deploy international mechanisms to protect Palestinians and ensure that aid reaches those in need.
3. End Israeli control over aid: The lives of millions of Palestinians cannot remain in the hands of the Israeli occupation. An independent and internationally supervised aid distribution system must be established.
The time for statements has passed. Concrete action is now needed to stop the famine, end the genocide, and hold Israel accountable for its crimes. The world must act before more Palestinians perish from hunger and violence.
