Occupation Forces Brothers to Demolish Their Apartments Themselves in Jabal Mukaber
SadaNews - Today, Thursday, Israeli occupation authorities forced two Palestinian brothers from Jerusalem to carry out a self-demolition of their homes in the town of Jabal Mukaber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, under the pretext of building without a permit.
The brothers Ayoub and Ibrahim Qunbar were compelled to demolish a two-story residential building that has been in place since 2012, in order to avoid paying hefty fines to the occupation municipality for the demolition.
The demolition process displaced 10 citizens who were living in the two-apartment building, which has a total area of approximately 140m².
In May 2024, a final decision was issued by one of the occupation state’s courts to demolish the building, despite the family having worked since 2016 to legalize the building’s status based on a notice from the occupation municipality claiming that the building was constructed without a permit.
