Um al-Fahm: Protest Held Outside Police Station and Sit-in Against House Demolition

SadaNews - The popular committee in Um al-Fahm condemned the Israeli authorities' intention to demolish a citizen's house in the city, which he and his family have lived in for more than 10 years, amid a rise in demolition operations in the Arab community recently.

The popular committee in Um al-Fahm stated, "In light of the miserable conditions and the ongoing vicious assault on our people through home demolition policies and restrictions on the natural right to live in dignity, we strongly condemn the overwhelming threat to demolish the house of our brother Suleiman al-Fahmawi (Abu Tamer), where he and his family have lived for over ten years."

It said, "The police storming the area around the house with full force and the open threat to demolish a house inhabited by multiple families represents a dangerous precedent that cannot be overlooked, revealing once again a systematic targeting policy against our people and their basic rights. We in the popular committee declare it clearly: We will not allow any of our people's homes to be touched without a response, and we will stand as a solid barrier against any aggression on residences and homes."

In light of this, the popular committee announced immediate "escalation steps," including:

A protest held outside the police station in the Al-Zuhur neighborhood today, Monday, at 6:30 PM.

Setting up a permanent protest tent outside the affected home, as a symbol of resilience and popular refusal.

An open invitation to our people in Um al-Fahm and the surrounding area to visit the protest tent and actively participate in confronting the threat.

We urge all community organizations and committees in Um al-Fahm and the area to unite and cooperate, as this issue concerns everyone, and silence is betrayal.

The popular committee in Um al-Fahm concluded its statement by saying, "Land and housing are a sacred and legitimate right, and our voices will not rest until this injustice stops."
