The European Union Funds Palestinian Medical Referrals to Hospitals in Jerusalem with €9.29 Million
SadaNews - Alexander Stutzmann, the EU representative, announced yesterday at Augusta Victoria Hospital the allocation of €9.29 million to support Palestinian medical referrals to hospitals in East Jerusalem through the EU's PEGASE mechanism, funded by Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.
This support comes at a critical time, as hospitals in East Jerusalem continue to provide essential specialized care amidst increasing financial pressures.
Since 2013, the European Union, its member states, and partners have provided more than €225 million for this purpose.
The European Union reaffirms its commitment to ensuring Palestinians have access to healthcare, supporting the Palestinian Authority, and calling for the urgent reopening of Gaza crossings to facilitate the entry of medical supplies and the evacuation of patients.
