Trump announces the death of the leader of the Venezuelan gang 'Tren de Aragua' in a US strike

SadaNews - On Friday night to Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that the leader of the Venezuelan gang "Tren de Aragua" was killed in a military operation conducted in coordination with Venezuela.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "The US Southern Command executed a swift and lethal strike to eliminate Guerrero, the leader of Tren de Aragua," explaining that the operation was carried out "in close coordination" with Venezuela, which has been run by interim president Delcy Rodriguez since the arrest of Nicolás Maduro during a US military operation in January.

Trump did not specify the location of the operation that claimed Guerrero's life.

The announcement was accompanied by a short video showing an aerial shot of a building with a green roof surrounded by trees before an explosion occurs and a thick cloud of smoke is released.

Trump added, "There are no longer any safe havens for the terrorists of Tren de Aragua, neither in Venezuela nor anywhere else."

The United States has designated "Tren de Aragua" as a terrorist organization.

Authorities announced in December that a federal court in New York charged Guerrero with conspiracy to extort and other crimes, including providing support to terrorists in crimes that spanned over a decade.

The US Attorney for New York, Jay Clayton, stated at the time that the gang was responsible for countless acts of violence, extortion, and drug trafficking in North and South America and Europe.

The US State Department had offered rewards of up to $5 million for information leading to Guerrero's arrest.

It is worth noting that Guerrero is 42 years old, known by the nickname "Nino Guerrero" (the child warrior), and has been in hiding since 2025.
