Wholesale Price Index Rises by 1.84% in Palestine During the First Quarter of 2026
SadaNews Economy - The general wholesale price index in Palestine recorded a rise of 1.84% during the first quarter of 2026, compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, with a 6.09% increase for locally produced and consumed goods, while the index recorded a slight decrease of 0.04% for imported goods, according to Palestinian statistics.
Wholesale prices of goods within the wholesale trade section, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 2.41%, which constitutes 89% of wholesale trade. The wholesale selling prices of a number of categories increased as follows: types of gas fuel by 20.30%, fruits and vegetables by 19.37%, fabrics by 11.20%, tobacco products by 6.41%, metal and non-metal waste and other materials for recycling by 5.06%, live animals by 4.76%, agricultural waste for use as animal feed by 3.56%, and beverages by 2.95%. In contrast, wholesale selling prices for a number of categories decreased as follows: solid fuel types by 42.26%, fish and meat and their products by 4.05%, dairy products and eggs by 3.44%, grains and seeds by 2.96%, sugar, chocolate and sugary products, and bakery products by 2.91%, and animal and vegetable fats and oils by 2.28%.
The wholesale and retail trade section "retail" and the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles recorded a decrease of 3.83%, which constitutes 11% of wholesale trade, where the wholesale and retail prices of new vehicles decreased by 10.99%.
