Arab Bank Continues Its Support for the 'School Bag' Initiative in Cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development for the Eighth Consecutive Year
SadaNews - For the eighth consecutive year, Arab Bank has continued its support for the 'School Bag' initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development. This initiative reflects the bank's commitment to providing essential requirements for underprivileged groups in society, as the bank places significant emphasis on supporting the education sector, particularly aiding children from needy families by contributing to providing them with essential school supplies.
This year, the bank distributed 4,000 comprehensive school bags containing stationery to students in celebration of the new academic year in Jenin, Tubas, Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Nablus, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Hebron, Yatta, Bethlehem, and Jericho, in collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and its directorates in these areas.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Jamal Hourani, the Regional Director for Palestine at Arab Bank, stated: "This initiative is part of our corporate social responsibility and the bank's continuous commitment to implementing purposeful programs and initiatives that contribute to supporting and serving the local community, especially initiatives that concern supporting the less fortunate. This initiative aims to alleviate the living burdens on needy families and enhance their children's opportunities to obtain supportive educational tools that help them effectively continue their academic journey."
For her part, Minister of Social Development Dr. Samah Hamad praised Arab Bank's role and its distinguished contributions to community service, particularly its ongoing support for the less fortunate, commending this initiative, which embodies the bank's commitment to supporting needy Palestinian families, reflecting its contributions to establishing the values of community solidarity.
Dr. Hamad confirmed that this initiative is part of the Ministry of Social Development's ongoing efforts to enhance opportunities for cooperation with banking sector institutions and the private sector to provide necessary support to beneficiaries of the ministry's services and alleviate the economic burdens on families, which contributes to enabling children to continue their education in a motivating environment, ensuring the promotion of social justice and equality in learning opportunities.
She clarified that the success of this initiative relies on ongoing cooperation with local and international partners, reaffirming her commitment to expanding the scope of community programs to include all governorates, ensuring that support reaches as many beneficiaries as possible and achieving a tangible impact on the lives of children and needy families in Palestine.
It is worth noting that Arab Bank adopts a comprehensive and integrated strategy in the field of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, stemming from its commitment to achieving a positive, tangible impact on both economic and social levels, alongside its commitment to sustainable environmental practices. The 'Together' program for corporate social responsibility embodies this approach by supporting a range of diverse initiatives and activities that contribute to serving vital sectors including education, health, poverty alleviation, environmental protection, women's empowerment, and orphan care, through collaborative efforts with local community institutions.
